Director of Operations

WHO WE ARE:

Renewal Mill is a next generation ingredients company upcycling byproducts from food manufacturing to reduce food waste and increase access to affordable nutrition. Our initial ingredient, okara flour, is made from the byproduct of soymilk production. We sell okara flour, as well as Renewal Mill branded CPG products, including a delicious vegan okara chocolate chip cookie. Our exceptional team of entrepreneurs & industry experts includes a James Beard Award-Winning cookbook author, a veteran food scientist & a world champion baker. YOUR ROLE:

We are kicking off a period of growth, and are seeking the right people to drive this expansion. We’re a lean operation, and we’re looking for a Director who's excited to wear multiple hats as we build production and sales. The Director should be a jack-of-all-trades who can cultivate relationships with both large consumer packaged good companies (CPG) and smaller retailers as well as manage the logistics to scale production of products. The possibilities are endless for an adaptable, hard-working generalist passionate about building the future of food. If you’re hungry for a challenge, look no further.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own key wholesale & retailer accounts for Renewal Mill, including P&L responsibility

  • Lead day to day sales and account management for all current & new accounts

  • Managing production, including the development of new products and the optimization of logistics for ingredient and product production

  • Identify new opportunities and drive strategic decision making, using a data-driven approach

  • Build meaningful relationships with producers, purchasing directors, and retailers; craft communication and marketing materials to supplement these relationships

  • Travel to client meetings, events, and tradeshows, both nationally & internationally as needed

  • Serve as a key member of the Renewal Mill team, working in direct collaboration with the C-suite

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 5-10+ years of professional experience, experience in F&B a plus

  • An entrepreneurially-minded individual who is not afraid to experiment and who can craft, implement, and assess an ambitious 2019 growth strategy

  • Excellent communicator & skilled relationship-builder, in writing, over the phone, and in person

  • Adept at using data to develop new strategies and to iterate often

  • A curious and creative team-player, eager to learn and contribute to collaborative brainstorming on a daily basis

Process Engineer

YOUR ROLE:

We're currently seeking a Process Engineer who will drive the growth of production of our ingredients through the installation and oversight of equipment at partner facilities. The Process Engineer will also be responsible for developing, evaluating, and executing new processes and improved equipment to enhance efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement capital projects to increase production at partner facilities.

  • Work to improve and enhance safety, environmental compliance and quality at locations of production.

  • Develop and execute process improvement initiatives to increase efficiencies and reduce process loss.

  • Manage project budgets and perform analysis to insure expenditures provide acceptable returns.

  • Manage, review and develop SOP’s in all locations of production.

  • Manage facility team members that will oversee the day-to-day operations of the equipment.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; preferably in an engineering discipline.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a food/beverage processing environment is preferred.

  • Experience with engineering diagrams, process flow, pumps, pipes, valves, heat transfer, fluid flow, etc.

  • Familiarity with drying and dehydration technologies is a plus.

  • Excellent project management, prioritization and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of independence.

  • Sound strategic thinking and ability to produce original ideas.

  • Energetic passion toward food waste and affordable nutrition.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills. Takes initiative, can work with minimal supervision, is flexible and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing priorities.

  • Must demonstrate strong strategic and creative problem-solving abilities, as well as excellent verbal and written communications, strong presentation skills, work organization and ability to multitask.

  • Team player with ability to effectively manage teams and work cross functionally with other departments to meet business goals.
